BPL is more than just books! Our system of 60 neighborhood libraries offers a host of technology to help you meet your learning goals. Technology access is free, but does require a library card (unless otherwise noted).
Computers
Each BPL branch offers desktop computers equipped with internet access and basic Microsoft software, as well as special access to select learning resources only available at the library. When computers are all in use, sessions are limited to 30-minutes and patrons can sign-up for a session at the reservation station.
Information Commons
Central Library’s Info Commons offers Mac and PC work stations with the latest design and multimedia production software, in addition to a recording studio and meeting rooms equipped with flatscreens. Explore the Info Commons.
Bushwick Learning Lab, Powered by Spectrum
In addition to standard public computers, Bushwick Library offers a high-tech Learning Lab on its lower level, with state-of-the-art laptop computers and special programming. Learn more.
Wifi
Brooklyn Public Library provides free wireless Internet access to library users with appropriately equipped and configured laptop computers. Wireless Internet access is available at the Central Library and all branch libraries. Network name: BPLUNWIRED. Get detailed information on how to connect here.
Laptops
Laptops are available for in-branch loan at select libraries. Laptop loan is available to adults (ages 17+) and young adults (ages 13-17). Learn more about the program.
Library HotSpot
BPL partners with the NYC Department of Education to loan mobile wifi devices to families without high-speed Internet access at home. Learn about the program and see if you qualify.
Printing, copying and scanning
All BPL branches are equipped with printers, copiers and scanners available for patron use. Black and white prints/copies are $0.10 per side, and color prints/copies are $0.50 per side.
Print on demand
You can send your print jobs to any BPL library printer from your home computer or phone up to 24 hours in advance. Learn how to send print jobs in advance.
